Bright Eyeshadows Makeup

From pink eye makeup to black eyeshadow – here are some tips to nail bright eyeshadow looks without looking like a hot mess

TIP 1 - When in doubt, DO NOT go all out

If this is your first foray into the world of bright eye makeup, create a monochrome eyeshadow look. While colour blocking and gradient eyeshadows are stunning looks to replicate, if you are a makeup beginner, we recommend experimenting with only one colour at a time. Pick a vibrant pink eyeshadow and apply it all over your eyelids, keeping the rest of your face makeup and lip makeup nude and minimal. If you are unsure about a hot pink on your eyelids, how about smudging a green eyeshadow on just your lower lash line instead? Test out different bright eyeshadow colours in real time using the Maybelline Virtual Try On tool and find a colour that allows you to step outside your comfort zone without making you uncomfortable. You can gradually add more hues to your eye makeup looks and experiment with different eyeshadow techniques.

TIP 2 - Take inspiration from nature

Cannot decide which colours work together? Just look around and draw inspiration from different fruits, flowers, and other natural formations to find foolproof eyeshadow colour combinations. Take strawberries, watermelons, and apples for example – what do they have in common? Red and green! So bring out your green and red eyeshadow and create a gradient eye makeup look. If a red and green eye makeup is not your thing, think of the sandy beaches of Maldives instead. Use a blue and gold eyeshadow to create a stunning shimmery eye makeup look that will flatter every skin tone. If you prefer earthy tones, add a soft brown eyeshadow to your black eye makeup look and flaunt a sexy smokey eye.

TIP 3 - Always prime your eyelids

Using a brightening concealer on your eyelids is guaranteed to make your bright eye makeup pop. Use the Maybelline FIT Me Finder tool to find a concealer that matches your skin tone and use a concealer that is a shade or two lighter than this colour to use as your eyeshadow base. This will not only keep your eye makeup in place but will also make the colours appear more vibrant.

TIP 4 - Use your eye makeup tools the right way

Different makeup brushes work for different types of eyeshadows, so make sure you use the right brush to get the most out of your bright eyeshadow colours. Another way to amplify the impact of your bold hues is to wet your makeup brush before dipping it in your eyeshadow palette. Simply spray your makeup brush with a setting spray and damp it to give your eyeshadows a foiled effect. This tip works especially great when creating gold eye makeup looks.

TIP 5 – Add black to intensify your look

To finish your bright eyeshadow look, finish your eye makeup by using a bold and black kajal, eyeliner, and mascara to define your eyes and add drama to your eyelashes. Use the Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner to create a dramatic winged eyeliner look or keep it simple by lining your upper eyelid close to the lash line. The Maybelline Colossal Super Black Kajal is perfect for tight lining your upper and lower lash line to outline your eyes and intensify your bright eye makeup. Use the Maybelline Colossal Mascara to enjoy the look of voluminous false lashes without the hassle of applying falsies.

BONUS TIP – Have fun!

Eye makeup looks are a great way to unleash your creativity and experiment with crazy colours. While the tips mentioned above are a good starting point to mastering some bright eyeshadow looks, add your own spin to these four tips and create an eye makeup look that you enjoy. Makeup is all about breaking the roles, so create your own eyeshadow combinations and rock all the colours.
