2 Eyeshadow Colour Combinations

Creating colourful eye makeup looks can feel intimidating at first. From choosing different eyeshadow colours to matching them with the rest of your face makeup and lip makeup seems like a daunting task. If you are looking for some eyeshadow ideas for your next outing, here are two tried and tested colourful eyeshadow looks that never disappoint.

1. Stick to the basic eyeshadow colours with Warm Brown and Copper

You can never go wrong with the classics, which is why a warm brown and copper look is the perfect choice even for absolute beginners. Whether you are going out for lunch with your friends or have a special date night with boo, these eyeshadow colours complement many different outfits and will keep all eyes on you.

Start by priming your lids with a foundation or concealer and set it in place with the lightest eyeshadow colour from the Maybelline City Mini Eyeshade Palette – 5th Avenue Sunset. Make sure the foundation shade you use matches the rest of your face and neck as that will help create a seamless base for your entire makeup. Find your exact foundation shade match by answering a few simple questions on the Maybelline Foundation Finder tool.

Next, use the shimmery copper eyeshadow from the palette and apply it all over your eyelid, taking it up till the crease. Use a dense, flat brush or your finger to add the colour to your lids. Using a soft, fluffy blending brush, add the warm brown eyeshadow colour from the palette in your crease and blend till there are no harsh lines between your eyelid colour and this crease shade. Deepen the outer corner of your eyes by adding the darkest shade from the palette to the outer ‘V’ of your eyes. Finding it difficult to create this look? To keep up with the warm theme of the colourful eye makeup look, switch out the black kajal on your waterline with a warm brown kajal. If you don’t have a brown kajal, use the brown Fashion Brow Cream Pencil by Maybelline instead! Finish the look by creating a sharp winged eyeliner and coating your lashes with a mascara to add volume and length to your lashes.

2. Create a soft and every day colourful eyeshadow look with Rose Gold and Champagne

Colourful eyeshadow looks do not always have to bold and vibrant and this subtle rose gold and champagne eyeshadow combination is a testament to it. If you prefer adding colour to your eyelids without going over the top, adding a soft rose gold or pink eyeshadow colour to your eye makeup look is a great way to play with colour while still staying in your comfort zone.

After you have primed and set your eyelids, use the soft, matte light pink eyeshadow colour from the Maybelline Blushed Nudes Palette and apply it to the inner and outer corner of your eyelid, leaving some space in the center. This creates sort of a halo around the center shade, and this how you create the halo colourful eye makeup! Next, using your finger or a small and dense flat brush, add the dark rose gold shimmer eyeshadow to just the center of your lids. Go over the eyeshadow colours one more time if needed to amp up the intensity. To finish the colourful eyeshadow look, using a precise inner corner highlight brush, add the champagne shade from the palette to your inner corner. You can also apply the same champagne colour under the arch of your eyebrow to highlight your brows and make them pop.

Instead of outlining your eyes with an eyeliner, add a soft smokey effect to your eye makeup look by using a flat angled brush and smudging the dark brown shade from the palette along your upper and lower lash line. Increase the intensity of the colour as your move towards the outer end of your eye and extend a small flick outward to create the subtle yet sexy kitten eye look. Complete the look by getting fluttery and curled eyelashes with the Maybelline Volum’ Express Hyper Curl Washable Mascara.
